Apple - Royal Gala

 

Description:

  • Also known as 'Gala'
  • A small to medium apple with prominent red-orange vertical stripes
  • Firm juicy, yellow/white flesh
  • Very sweet and slightly tart: a good eating apple
  • Good source of dietary fibre, some vitamin C and Potassium

Description:

  • Small to medium size apple
  • White, juicy, semi-tart flesh
  • Skin is usually deep red or has light red stripes over yellow
  • Available all year round, peaking March - September.

Description:

  • Tender green/yellow skin

Apple - Red Delicious

 

Description:

  • Five characteristic bumps on the base end
  • Rich, red skin that sometimes shades to light red or yellow in areas
  • Flesh is a yellowish colour and is rich and sweet
  • Harvested in March but due to controlled atmosphere storage they are available all year round.
  • Good source of dietary fibre, some vitamin C and Potassium

Description:

  • Yellow/green when ripe
  • White crisp juicy flesh

  • Available all year round, peaking March - May

Apple - Fuji

 

Description:

  • As the name implies, a Japanese bred apple from the 1930's
  • Large, tall, rectangular shaped fruit with yellow-green skin and an orange/red blush with darker red stripes.
  • Crisp white flesh with a very sweet taste
  • Long lasting
  • Very good eating apple, also good for baking, but considered too sweet for sauces
  • Very popular in Japan and China
  • Good source of dietary fibre, some vitamin C and Potassium

Apple - Braeburn

 

Description:

  • A medium to large apple with distinctive red vertical streaks on the skin when ripe
